At Complete Music we have a newsletter that features weddings from our clients and in our October issue there was this one particular wedding that I thought needed a little more time in the light….

Melanie Dickens and Nicholas Oberkrom’s wedding is one I just love to blab on and on about. The adorable couple was married on June 11, 2011 at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church with the reception at The Christy. Melanie and Nicholas had a military wedding since Nicholas is an officer and pilot (holy hotness)  in the United States Navy and so are his groomsmen. They were dressed in their military whites and branded swords as the couple came out of the church.  Here is what we shared in our newsletter:

Military wedding flare!

As I looked through their photos I couldn’t help but fall in love with the rest of their wedding. From their centerpieces made with large plume feathers, which Melanie did herself, to the rock candy party favors that doubled as place settings (all because Nick and she are addicted to candy).

I love the asymmetrical wedding cake that has nothing to do with the color white but everything to do with her color and theme!  And the Groom’s cake was a total surprise…I’m feeling a little Top Gun here…ICE MAN?? GOOSE??

I’m in love with all the sentimental pieces they incorporated into their wedding. The Garter has three charms: St. Louis Cardinals logo since because they BOTH are huge fans. An Anchor to represent Nick’s career and his Alma mater in which he has tremendous pride and the Mizzou logo to represent Melaine’s Alma mater in which she has insane pride for.

Her something old just made my heart mel.  She has her  Maternal Great-Grandmother’s Handkerchief passed down to
the Maternal Grandmother, passed down to her and her Great-Grandmother’s broach passed down from her Grandmother, who left it to Melanie when she passed away.

And here is a piece that I would have never thought about doing…getting the hanger for your dress customized. If you’re wondering why it says Mrs.Obie…that is her husband’s nickname and she has been called Mrs.Obie for years!

Cheers!
