I’m just going to put it out there, I HATE WINTER.  I honestly feel that there are no redeeming qualities to it. It’s cold, wet, grey, icy, snowy and dead like. Oh and did I mention cold? I can’t wear enough clothes to keep warm, my car doesn’t warm up until I’m actually at work.  But what really confuses me are the people that actually love it. They want to be out in it, bundle up and go for walks in it. They even purposely  plan to have  a wedding in winter!  So as to cheer my winter blues and warm up to the idea that winter may indeed have something to offer, I sought out winter wedding ideas to share with you.

Let’s start with the most important part of every wedding…THE DRESS!

These two dresses are from designer Micheal Cinco. I have fallen in love with his artistic designs, the dresses to me look like they themselves belong in a museum.  Since it is a winter wedding, I honestly feeling that “more” is actually a good thing…more fabric, more jewels, more embellishments.

These dresses remind me of princess dresses, but one you actually want to wear! I love how dramatic they are and honestly for a winter wedding I think you can get away with it!

Next is decor what the heck do you do in winter with decor?  Well one thing is for sure is up lighting. Up lighting really can create and transform a room.  The images I’ve posted here, of course have beautiful centerpieces and props, but what is really giving the venue it’s ambiance is the lighting. The trees aren’t casting that blue-silvery hue that gives the winter forest theme it’s bite it’s the lighting. That iridescent glow of the of the next picture is also all about lighting. But over all, these two rooms scream HOLY COOLNESS! in the best way possible.

Winter Centerpieces!  The picture below is just classic. Their use of silver and white and pearl have a great effect, you notice that those aren’t flowers, it’s fabric with a pearl like ball in the center, you can easily rent those vases, and make the rest yourself. The picture above where I highlighted the room as a whole, check out the center pieces. It’s technically kindle, you know the kind you break up and throw into your fire to keep warm! And they’ve made centerpieces out of it, beautiful ones at that!

The last thing I was looking for to really cap out this winter wedding theme was the bouquet, I didn’t want to have this winter wedding theme and yet the bride’s bouquet doesn’t truly match. I found this arrangement from another blog called Fiori by Lynne. She used ivory and purple Calle Lilies and Spider Chrysanthemums (which I’m severely allergic too). But it makes a stunning winter bouquet

So while I hate winter, I think I love winter wedding themes. It truly lends itself to the dramatic and elegant, all you need is a castle and you’re set!

Cheers,
